Exclamation Docks Ferry Scammer

I am not sure if this is the right subforum to post in (seemed like the right place). I apologize if it isn't

Just want to inform the community (especially the new Nightfall players) of scammers who claim to ferry people to the docks (Kamadan to Consulate Docks), but just takes players' money and leaves.
Offer to pay the person ferrying you at the docks or half up-front, half at the docks.

I was going to give the name of someone who was pulling the scam last night, but apparently I can't do that here. Players just need to be wary of this growing trend, and hopefully it won't happen to them.

I'm sure he or she isn't the only scammer around. Rule of thumb is never pay unless you're sure you're getting what you paid for. Generally speaking, it's better to pay after than before. Sometimes, you might have to pay a small fee upfront, but you should never pay more than one-third of the going price (Or what you can afford to lose.)

Generally when I do dock runs I make people pay at least half up front if not all... it's just as easy for the "runee" to leave afterward and he has less to lose. All I have to do after collecting the money is click the mouse 3 times, it's not like I'd have a reason to leave. Plus you can have your business for the day easily ruined if someone spams your name in Kamadan and calls you a scammer, or makes a thread like this.

Every docks runner charges up front. But thanks for the classy response.
But apparently I can't give his name, so there's no real point to this thread.

Yes Guru is not for tarnishing or outing people you disagree with, and since no evidence can be trusted with the internet and photoshop, there is no point to this thread. If you have evidence contact Anet.

Sort of off topic, but how do you ferry people to the docks? I've tried, but it won't let me.

You have to be on the quest that goes to a cutscene and then takes you to the docks from the consulate. Not sure what the name of it is.

Take it as a lesson and move on. Everyone gets scammed at least once. The smart ones only get scammed once.

everything that has to do with running or taking you somewhere for a price, has a chance of being a scam, and its been there since 2005 with drok runs. when u accept to follow a guy for money, you should know that there is always a small risk of you being scammed. (one thing i do is when im going to pay i say something like "hey you better not be scamming me dude or you say goodbye to your little account". Maybe it works or maybe im just lucky cuz i've never been scammed once. Fear ftw.

the problem with paying after the run, is now the runner gets scammed. I used to do this run for people, and had them pay at the docks until I got scammed several time. People get there, quite and log off and you lose. now I ask for moeny inside once they see I can take them through. Unfortunately, too many people scam this on both sides. Just beware and try to use a guildie for the run, or someone you trust.

Gw is my first online game experience & after 2 years of playing, it seems to me that the only thing the players are focused on is MONEY......& all the evil consequences, scam + bots + duping + ...weird......am I an idealistic player ?

All is linked to money....money, I read the moah egg story, the armbrace story, the wts/wtb spam, I even got 2 days ago in ToA a very polite spam from a gold seller & so on.

I often give items to guildies & they dont understand my attitude, I feel like I am an alien among predators. Why dont you sell them? guildies ask...cause its a waste of time...I answer. I am here to play not to trade. I have enough for my characs thats it.

I should have kept the exact sentence from Sir The Herbalizer (you know this player, dont you?) & his/her philosophy:

" Playing is a waste of time (?!?) I rather prefer to sit in LA with mates & others chating, showing each others new stuff we got, surfing the net for price check." This "player" has not been PLAYING for months !!!!!!!!

Very strange, odd, bizarre.

Why not ? I am just on the opposite side...I work as an intl buyer 8/24 a day and when I connect to GW I want to entertain myself. Funny isnt it?

Question: should I take an apointment with a psychiatrist ?
